“What a fantastic resource for my classroom of 28 year one and two children. They were so excited to get their little gardens started. They were a little disappointed at the types of seeds they got - but it was a great learning tool to teach them about flowers/vegetables they may have not known about before. With a big class, it is very much appreciated that so many are sent - it would never have been manageable otherwise!”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Yes we have been able to link it in with standard forms of measurement and our garden to table programme.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The class are keen to keep growing plants and I think they will keep playing the game for a long time

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have learnt the names of lots of different vegetables. It was linked nicely with our garden to table programme as students were able to try some of the vegetables we are growing.

We have written about vegetables, cooked vegetables which involved cutting and peeling, made graphs to show the vegetables we liked and analysed this data, how seeds best grow and we have spoken about ways of keeping our bodies healthy. (Science, HPE, Wri

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have gone off on a tangent about fruit and vegetables and how they grow and next we are going to be learning about the importance of Bees. We have also reviewed the importance of including our youngest learners in our Enviroschools sessions.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children in our class have all tried a new vegetable. We have been able to talk about healthy and unhealthy lunch boxes and also the importance of a balanced diet to ensure our bodies are the healthiest they can be.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Replanting of class vege patch without any cost to us, cooking in the kitchen (next term). Working together, being responsible for your own and others things, paying attention to detail (small seedlings emerging, soil being pushed up from seedlings).

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have not reached this part of the program. We will look at the different types of vegetables and try to sample as many as possible that can be eaten raw. (not our ones as they won't be ready yet).
