What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Maintaining our vegie garden, seasonal planting for bulbs, continuing to care for our playground and to take responsibility in keeping it beautiful and enjoyable for all. Student ownership and agency at its best!!

“This amazing kit provided so much stimulation and excitement for our 29 New Entrants. They became inspired to grow many more plants and sprout seeds from this ignition activity! The kit is so beautifully laid out and the items met our needs perfectly! The topic was perfectly matched for us, the season and our learning level. The badges are a great hit and the children wear them with pride! Our playground has never looked so amazing after we planted out our seedlings in our newly created vegie garden and out spring bulbs in buckets not to mention the potatoes in tyres and the newly hatched chicks ... the children are taking such pride in their environment making signs to admire and protect their plants. They water each day with such enthusiasm and many little learners have really thrived with this project thank you”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The codes were timely and this gave them the opportunity to use their literacy skills when decoding the messages. The kits and varieties of plants offered something for everyone. The kids have measured the plant growth daily since the first seedlings spro

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The ongoing care and maintenance required to ensure their plants grow are at the forefront for our kids and they are committed to sharing this with the class via Seesaw posts and then hopefully bringing some in to cook and share.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children and I had to search to see what some of the plants were and which of them are edible. Plants like Borage are new to us and we also looked at recipes we could use to make some of these pplants more enjoyable to eat.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have not completed the unit yet but I anticipate there will be more interest in being involved in the school garden and in making healthy eating choices.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are interested in where our food comes from, growing new vegetables, trying new foods, having a variety of fruits and vegetables in their lunches, growing food with their whanau.

“The seedlings were great and everything that accompanied it in terms of badges worked well. There was a few too many bits and pieces that needed assmebly which was time consuming.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Sustainability- looking after papatuanuku and te ao. Looking after themselves taha tinana, taha wairua, taha hinengaro, taha whanau. We have Masterchef Comp happening at the moment and one criteria is to use 5 ingredients from your own garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learners were very keen to try new foods and it was great to some include these in their lunch boxes e.g broccoli. Excited to tell me that.
