We were able to unpack exactly what each of the vegetables etc were and students spent time on researching and comparing their nutrition value. They were motivated to do this as they could share their findings with others that had different plants to grow

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit has been a super tool to integrate with the various subjects across the curriculum. We have used the potatoes as maths problems, written countless stories about the characters as well as the process and even had great fun with veggie art!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? - Science! And how plants grow, what is involved and different aspects of a plant - Patience!!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Veges are the new coolest thing! From coming up with ideas of how to make others enjoy them, to making edible art with them, our children have loved taking their learning home.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? There was a huge deal of reading and maths involved in growing these vegetables - reading instructions, reading messages, measuring plants and measuring water! It also helped with the social sciences - roles and responsibilities.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Opportunities for future learning: roles and responsibilities, sustainability, health. As a follow up, next term I want to focus on those aforementioned topics.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? By growing vegetables themselves, the children have definitely fostered a love and appreciation of vegetables.

Maths - measurement; 2D and 3D shapes, watching the circle of soil grow into a cylinder; fractions - how many 1/3 of a cup make a whole. Literacy - writing instructions for planting seeds; Wanted poster for describing a vegetable (labelling); non fiction

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Just the whole excitement of starting a new inquiry - how to hook the children into it etc. It wouldn't have had nearly the same impact had we just received the seeds. Just more of the above comments - it gave context and meaning for so many curriculum ar

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has promoted a lot of conversation and children have shared their messages with their parents and are all keen to try new vegetables.

“The Little Garden Kit has been wonderful for the children. They were excited for the challenge to be accepted into the LGL and have thoroughly enjoyed planting their seeds, watching them germinate and learning all about vegetables, how they are important etc. They sat absorbed doing the secret messages, even the kids who usually struggle to complete tasks.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? More involvement in helping to tend and grow veggies in our school garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Willingly trying veggies. We talk about the veggies in our lunch box and healthy snacks.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It endorsed our school values, responsibility respect curiosity and persistence - It encouraged a fascination with growing things and seeing how things develop in time.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Growing things, Spring, Healthy eating. How eating vegetables benefits the body

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? At this stage it is too early to tell. We haven't harvested the veges yet but it will be an excellent opportunity to try different healthy food.
