We have loved growing the little gardens veges, but it would have been better to start a few weeks earlier so we could have studied more of their growth for the term. The students loved the codes to crack and being part of the club

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This has been our whole topic all year. We have learnt Maori words for everything from the vegetables to gardening tools, reading, kapahaka songs, art, science, spelling, handwriting
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Our kapahaka and prize-giving songs are all about purerehua life cycle, making more gardens, recycling, reducing plastic to make gardens out of eco bricks, music we made some vegetable instruments, garden to table, spelling
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Being brave to eat and try new vegetables. We had broccoli three ways and they loved it.
Absolutely loved this kit. Most favourite yet. It fit into our inquiry perfectly as we have been building, growing, and learning about gardening. The kids loved the codes and making it into a club made it so much funner for them.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Students learnt about the characteristics of a living thing (MRS GREN) as part of their science unit and I used this as a task for their little garden league member tests. They also enjoyed writing their application letters to headquarters.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We can build on this knowledge and learning by cooking using vegetables and learning more about what plants require to survive.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Some of the students talked about veges that they had tried at home and discussed planting gardens however, I am not sure if there were any significant changes to their diet.
This was a great kit the children really enjoyed the story about the little garden league and took on responsibility for caring for their plants.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have had an ongoing statistics unit focusing on the contents of our lunch boxes. We also have integrated the history of our local environment learning about what food was traded with the Māori and Settlers, growing food and working with community garde
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have been talking about rubbish free lunch boxes.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Much more aware that 'fresh' food is different to packaged 'fruit'. Pre Garden League lots of children stated that their 'fruit strips' e.t.c. were fruit because it had a picture of fruit on the front.
The best thing about this kit was it actually had children trying new foods. Doing it in the classroom with peers encouraged them and the clubs 'Grow, protect, taste' motto was easily remembered and called upon.
