In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? In writing we wrote diary entries describing what we could see happening with the class. We also used our plants in maths by using blocks to see how tall they were and compare heights.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Now that the children are have been introduced to the growing process, we might move into a more in-depth science unit about how plants and trees grow.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I bought all the different vegetables to school, and all of the kids tried all of them - even if they didn't like them. Having such a fun school kit really encouraged them to be brave and give everything a go.
This was such a great school kit. Lots of kids in my class had never done any gardening before and they loved being involved in the whole process.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are beginning to link their learning to their own homes and recognising that they already have some of these 'new; foods available to them or are beginning to look for these items when out shopping. They all understand their bodies well but this
The resource is well put together, having the electronic resources as well added an extra element to the learning that students were apart of. The garden is cute, fun and so child centred that it made it very easy to motivate the students to want to be a part of the learning about edible plants. This has been an absolute favourite across our school.

Kia ora, my class have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of growing, protecting and of course they can't wait to taste. The resource is well thought out and the generosity of others through sharing ideas have made this project a success. My student's are talking about how they are helping whanau to plant and care for crops and all the different ways they will eat their plants. I especially liked the coded messages and pledge cards as well as the badges. This was a great idea!

Working with a year 2/3 class we absolutely loved having the Little Garden League School Kit! It linked into our Garden to Table unit, which was amazing as we like to integrate learning when possible. The kit encourage children to take responsibility and be accountable, skills that we are trying to develop school wide. There were lots of resources to support the learning of the School Kit which made my life as a teacher much easier. Little Garden League told an engaging and motivating story, the kids were always so excited to learn more and when their seedlings started to sprout this was amazing. It was nice for the kids to see the life cycle of a plant, although our plants have yet to produce the vegetable, the kids are already so keen to try these and are even coming up with recipes to use these veges. Love Little Garden League this year!! Thank you :)
