In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have been excited to learn about vegetables that they haven't tasted before. It has helped us to reinforce the importance of healthy eating and also learning about where our food comes from.

We were able to write about the LGL, cover our measurement unit with monitoring plant growth and making comparisons, we learnt about science in relation to requirements for life and the life cycle of plants, we read about a range of fruits and vegetables

Some are still cautious, but the exposure still matters. Their curiosity has peaked and they are more and more willing to engage with the things tha

“Our Year 2 class was able to access the learning at a level suitable for them. The kit was hands on and very visual and the children absolutely loved being a part of caring for the plants each day. We could easily adapt and integrate the learning into other curriculum areas as well to suit our focus for the term. Loved it and would highly recommend! One of the best kits yet!”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We read and learnt about the science of growing plants and what plants need. We linked the tracking of the growth of the plants to Measurement learning in Maths.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children are really interested in growing now and want to grow more plants. We could still go further with learning about healthy eating.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children learnt a little more about vegetables and where they come from. There were some new vegetables for the children that they hadn't heard of before. We had conversations about trying new food and respecting the different food that others eat, e.

“The school kit was fabulous - the kids thoroughly enjoyed planting their seedlings and taking on the challenge to join the club. I gave the badges to the children after they had 'earned' them by looking after their seedlings for a fortnight. The clubhouse post box was difficult to cut up when making and took quite some time out of a teacher's already busy day.”

Our next step is to learn about thinning the plants when we replant them for a second time (currently in slightly larger pots but will need to be thinned and replanted in the school garden once a little bigger). A huge factor has been understanding where food comes through - we're obviously not at the point yet where we can harvest anything but it's been really beneficial for children to see and talk about how our fruit and vegies start out.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We read about plants, wrote about our own little gardens and imagine a garden with moving objects hah, did some journal writing about what was happening. Lots of discussions about healthy eating as well.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit involved maths, literacy, the key competencies and science. Lots of learning!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? There are plenty of future links across the curriculum. The codes relate to maths and the digital technologies curriculum and our continued work on our school gardens.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I heard new vocabulary being used and they all gave new veges a go on our last day.
