What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Technology and Food. Using our vegetable to make recipes with all the vegetables they grown. Having a market stall to sell produce.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We haven't quite got to this stage as yet but it is planned for Term 4.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We crossed this kit with loads of subjects like spelling, reading, writing, visual art, health and physical education. It gave us an opportunity to relate shared and guided reading books to the subject, further enforcing the kits values and awareness of n

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? After learning about vegetables, our next goal for Term 4 is to focus a bit on fruit and being able to promote healthy eating through that as well. It has opened our minds to the benefits of the environment and taking the classroom outdoors more often.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have an orchard at our school so we linked this kit with our worm farm. We talked about we can do with the vegetable scraps.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Looking into how plants grow will be some future learning that we will do.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are sharing all the vegetables they have eaten and are wanting to try new vegetables. The vegetable match game was a great way for students to learn the names of vegetables.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots, we did reading around the different varieties of vegetables that came, we did writing about setting up our gardens and art work around this as well. We also involved maths by measuring the growth rates of our plants.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Healthy eating, how to care and look after vegetables, ways of sharing and belonging to community gardens.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lots of ways, children were able to understand where vegetables come from and what healthy food is and how we can stay healthy by eating them!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will continue to look at growing other plants and pursue some more cooking elements where the children can explore different plants and their tastes.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have been having discussions about vegetables that the children have never heard of and they are excited to come to school and tell me when they have tried or discovered something new.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I look forward to doing cooking with veggies and exposing children to other options for healthy eating. Creating menus for whanau.

“I have a year 1 class. They thoroughly enjoyed the planting and learning about new vegetables. They found the codes quite hard to crack and therefore lost interest in doing them unfortunately. My school has had an incredibly busy last few weeks which has had a flow on effect to my commitment to the kit unfortunately.”
