Our class really loved receiving this whole kit. It fitted in so well with our Big Idea topic of Thinking like Environmentalists. Growing our seedlings in class generated lots of conversation about sustainability, growing and tasting new vegetables. We learnt about parts of the plant and what they need to grow - we really enjoyed the music links and podcasts. The badges were worn with pride and the idea around posting their membership form was also very motivating but making the post box itself was time-consuming and not an easy task. The growth of the seedlings sparked a great deal of excitement! As did the Code Crackers!

Hello! Room One at Target Road School has just completed the LGL. We have absolutely loved the whole process. It has been such an experience to be able to post our letters, receive our badges and for them grow the vegetables. The students have had real buy in with the whole programme, especially as it is now in the New World stores and with Spring arriving, many of them are planting vegetable gardens at home. They have come in each morning to see if their seeds have sprouted and taken ownership of ensuring they are well cared for by watering them (we purchased a LGL watering can from NW) and making sure they have sun. They have got quite worried if the pots look dry! As we are going on two weeks leave from school, each child is looking forward to taking their pottle home to continue to nurture and then plant. The language and discussion has been awesome and it has covered so many curriculum areas. We would love to be a part of something like this again in the future! thanks so much, MIss Amy and Room One at Target Road School, on Auckland's North Shore x
