What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will continue to try to grow our own vegetable garden in our outdoor area
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has worked well as we were in the middle of a topic on Farm to Table where we had been looking at where our food comes from. Because the plants were so quick to grow the children were able to see results quickly and see how easy it is to grow our own f
Overall the little garden kit was great, the badges and introduction with the letterbox worked really well to pull the kids in and get them interested. They loved getting a plant each to plant, water and take care of and support the learning that we had already been doing in class. The other activities were all a bit tricky for my 5 year olds, so next time I would love to see some 'easier' options for the secret codes and also the cardboard labels for each plant don't last when they are getting watered. Otherwise - such an awesome initiative that I would love to continue doing on a yearly basis with my class.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As it was an integrated kit we used as a stand alone which we could encourage the use across the curriculum. I used this as a complete topic and was able to ensure the students were kept motivated for the duration. I used in writing, topic, maths and sing
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Measurement of the plants, science- photosynthesis, labeling, natural world. Cooking the veges grown. Create a menu.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The discussion around growing their own food led to making connection with their own world. ZThey were also able to explore about different types of food them and their family could try. The links were excellent insupporting this.
The students got really excited by the secret club. They liked having the badges and getting the plants. The background info was good but maybe you could make profile cards with the main points of the character. As teachers we had to modify and sell the club. The application was a good idea but was harder for pre readers. As class size is more than 20 could be a mission. I liked the idea of the letterbox. The class enjoyed getting an envelope back the next day wit their badge and key. The messages that came out were very long. With pre readers even with scaffolding was quite difficult. Messages could be shorter? If you had extra funds maybe you could create a one pace cartoon with the needed info about previous members.

This was fun and exciting for our tamariki. They especially enjoyed watching the seeds sprout - causing lots of debating about ‘who was bigger’ ‘whose grew the fastest’ so thank you.

This was an absolutely wonderful kit. All of the resources were age appropriate and the children loved them and were full engaged. All of the little gardens grew except one...but this was a great learning discussion. We didn't use the website much but as a teacher it was helpful for me to find the resources i needed.
