What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children are very keen to build more gardens in the school to transplant our seeds/seedlings to continue to grow

“Absolutely Awesome!!! Our little towns community supermarket is a new world, so having all the seedling pots before they hit the supermarket was a highlight for the kids. They really enjoyed all the secret codes to crack and learning about growing, protecting and tasting.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were more aware of what were vegetables and some they had never heard of so we had to investigate what they would look like once grown.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the code breaking activities as a follow up for writing and also based alot of our maths questions around these kit.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This lead us into looking into our own school garden and vegs and the seasons.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learners were able to make connections to healthy eating but didn't adopts these or relay information back to their whanau.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We went down a science route and learned about plants and plant needs, life cycles then Alston only minibeasts

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It has laid the groundwork for future growing units, they will maybe have a passion to get a garden going at home etc

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children who had gaps in their knowledge now know a lot more vegetables

“I really enjoyed the Little Garden teaching kit and so did my classroom of new entrants. The club idea captured them from the start and I was able to find out what prior knowledge they had. We used the little garden to kick off our “Backyard Garden” unit and based out learning around what plants needs to thrive and then moved on th minibeasts. The little garden was a fabulous introduction and it is great to see the children taking responsibility for the plants and knowing what they need.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The class created posters to teach others about plants and share their knowledge

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The class were excited and open to learning about new vegetables and trying new vegetables when we did a taste test challenge to end our learning!
