In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the code breaking activities as a follow up for writing and also based alot of our maths questions around these kit.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This lead us into looking into our own school garden and vegs and the seasons.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learners were able to make connections to healthy eating but didn't adopts these or relay information back to their whanau.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children were happy to take them home and promote to their families.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were more aware of what were vegetables and some they had never heard of so we had to investigate what they would look like once grown.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We measured the plants weekly and made graphs to show the differences in growth. We used the plants for healthy eating unit and learnt the te reo maori words for some vegetables and fruits.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will harvest the plants and use them tomake some meals.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We used it as a motivation/introduction and children learned that herbs can be used to add taste to food. We also investigated the benefits of fruit and vegetables for our bodies.

“The garden was great but maybe it would have been better if it came at the beginning of term as some died over the school holidays. The children loved planting them and monitoring their progress and was a great catalyst for our healthy food/healthy bodies unit.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students have asked many questions and have student led discussions about fruit and vegetables being in their diet.

“This has been a wonderful experience. The children have loved the whole process . They are enjoying the responsibility of looking after the plants and learning about healthy food choices.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The class were excited and open to learning about new vegetables and trying new vegetables when we did a taste test challenge to end our learning!
