In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were able to apply knowledge of healthy eating and then because the plants went home, it promoted healthy eating in their homes as well.
My class were very excited and engaged with this kit. They really felt like they were part of a secret club. It gave us many opportunities to learn about plants, growing vegetables and also linked nicely to our Health unit from earlier in the term with Life education (where we looked at fuel for our bodies).

The kid loved joining the club, earning a badge an planting their seedlings. The children arrived eagerly at school each day to check out whose seedling had sprouted. When they got large enough we transplanted them in to our outdoor garden bed. They are growing very very well.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Introduced them to lots of veges that they didn't know. I brought different veges for them to taste throughout this unit. Children more aware of 5 plus a day now.
Class thought the Little gardens were fantastic. Loved watching the soil grow when we planted our seeds. (plants did struggle during the school holidays, Some got a bit leggy and had to organize people to water them) The secret coded messages hooked the kids in and they enjoyed calling on another by their plant name. It was hard to find the extra resources on line. We had to send an email.

Little garden's league was an amazing kit that had students engaged well before it was even opened. The resources were good quality and enabled students to add their own creativity to expand them. It's collaborative nature was a delight to watch all students participate in.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be referring to our new knowledge of vegetables and healthy eating during our 'Food and Nutrition' unit later this term. It will make this unit more realistic and relatable, as they have really enjoyed the hands on nature of this kit.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Many children weren't aware of the vast range of vegetables and herbs out there. It allowed them to share their current knowledge of what healthy eating and vegetables were. It was interesting that many had seen and eaten peas, corn and carrots, but had n
This kit was so enticing to whole class of Year 1 children. On opening the box, the excitement was high due to the high standard of presentation. It was lovely for all of them to get their own seedling pot and they thoroughly enjoyed the hands on nature of this project. The display unit for the seedling pots was well thought out and the children loved tracking their plant's progress and height. A complete highlight was signing onto the pledge in order to get their badge. It made them feel part of the team! Having plants in the classroom, as well as the ongoing project encouraged many of them to talk about plants, vegetables and healthy eating. Some were further encouraged to plant their own vegetables at home for a side project and others came to school to share that they had tried a new vegetable for dinner!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were learning about Spring and what comes with it and planting vegetables tied in nicely.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The part of the motto where we had to try new vegetables encouraging the children to open their minds and be aware of the different vegetables. We talked about healthy lunchboxes and food.
The children were hooked into the Little Garden League from the onset. They loved being part of something and planting their individual seeds. A lot of children already knew about the pots and how to do it and they showed others. The kit tied in nicely with Spring coming and other plantings we were doing in our classroom. Thank you for giving our children an opportunity to grow food, to encourage sustainability and promote healthy eating.
