How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were learning about Spring and what comes with it and planting vegetables tied in nicely.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are building a kitchen/edible garden at our school so the children already have a solid foundation of how seeds grow.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The part of the motto where we had to try new vegetables encouraging the children to open their minds and be aware of the different vegetables. We talked about healthy lunchboxes and food.
The children were hooked into the Little Garden League from the onset. They loved being part of something and planting their individual seeds. A lot of children already knew about the pots and how to do it and they showed others. The kit tied in nicely with Spring coming and other plantings we were doing in our classroom. Thank you for giving our children an opportunity to grow food, to encourage sustainability and promote healthy eating.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? writing - application letters maths - codes science - how a seed germinates, conditions a plant needs to grow
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Our school has a garden club and many of my students are excited to be able to join the garden club next year (when they're old enough)
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were able to apply knowledge of healthy eating and then because the plants went home, it promoted healthy eating in their homes as well.
My class were very excited and engaged with this kit. They really felt like they were part of a secret club. It gave us many opportunities to learn about plants, growing vegetables and also linked nicely to our Health unit from earlier in the term with Life education (where we looked at fuel for our bodies).

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Aside from all the great oral language opportunities that arose from using the kits, we also used our reading and writing skills, mathematics, science, art and music. We basically covered all the curriculum areas which was amazing.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Although we briefly touched on concepts such as food technology and cooking, composting, sustainability etc, we would love to look at some of these ideas in more depth.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our New Entrants learned a lot of new names of vegetables and fruit and have been keen to try new things with the support of their peers. They check out everyone's lunch boxes now to see what different foods children have each day and are getting much bet
The children really enjoyed working on the little garden activities from start to finish from introducing the mysterious club and the codes to planting and caring for the seeds and plants. They took great delight in comparing changes in all the little pots each day and taking turns to water etc. They learned responsibility and turn-taking as well as restraint! We used our problem-solving skills a great deal and were brave about trying new things.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Introduced them to lots of veges that they didn't know. I brought different veges for them to taste throughout this unit. Children more aware of 5 plus a day now.
Class thought the Little gardens were fantastic. Loved watching the soil grow when we planted our seeds. (plants did struggle during the school holidays, Some got a bit leggy and had to organize people to water them) The secret coded messages hooked the kids in and they enjoyed calling on another by their plant name. It was hard to find the extra resources on line. We had to send an email.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? My kids made movies starring the veges as heros and villians. They made their own LGL headquarters were the veges hung out. We even wrote narratives about the veges. It was AWESOME!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Maths - heights, planting in garden (distances etc) Digital curric - coding etc Music - vege raps
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We can name 24 veges, herbs and plants now that we were otherwise struggling to come up with.
It was totally engaging and the learners (and teacher) thought we were super cool being members of a secret society. The codes were fabulous and we loved making our own up. It flowed through the curriculum into writing about the veges and creating narratives about our superhero veges (and a few villians too...orla onion)

The kid loved joining the club, earning a badge an planting their seedlings. The children arrived eagerly at school each day to check out whose seedling had sprouted. When they got large enough we transplanted them in to our outdoor garden bed. They are growing very very well.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Arianna - had never heard of Kale and asked her parents to buy in the groceries - they all tried it and loved it. James - planned to bring his carrot he grew to eat for lunch but got his mum to buy baby carrots in the meantime.
Loved, loved, loved this. Students were excited from beginning to end. In fact there wasn't really an end to this as students took their seedling home and planted in their own garden. They were excited that they have an interest with their mum or dad which was lovely.
