In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Heaps of cross curricular learning - Maths - measurement, Writing - descriptive and procedural, Art - drawing their plant, Reading - stories, poems, Problem solving, all the students enjoyed cracking the codes and creating their own.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Setting up and starting a class garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children have been introduced to new vegetables. They continue to learn about the importance of eating vegetables more often and the benefits that vegetables have on each child's health and well being.

Science - plants, Technology - the process of growing food sustainably and best practice, Literacy - writing about their experiences and reading journal articles about similar experiences (especially in Connected science journals)

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Many children have become more willing to participate in our Garden Club at school and plant and maintain vegetables in our school garden. Children would like to learn about the origins of edible plants and how humans came to develop them etc.

“This kit was excellent as it gave some great health learning opportunities that were delivered through real life experiences. Unexpectedly for me the children were really into this project and were really motivated to plant, grow and talk about vegetables. The online resources were really helpful in as was the fact this was also something they did at home and school, as many children brought extra plants from home that their parents had acquired from New World. All vegetables have been transferred over to our school gardens and will eventually be harvested and given to the needy in our St Mary's church community. We already do this through other vegetables grown in our school garden and donations from parents. Children also really liked the idea of joining a club and receiving special coded secret messages. A number of children who said they usually hated vegetables said they were at least willing to try them a little more as they now understood how healthy and important they were and were also keen to eat vegetables that they had grown themselves.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Kept getting sent links for activities but website was hard to navigate and didn't seem to find useful activities that include the curriculum and engage/teach students.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? More activities/teaching resources linked to the curriculum. Ideas for actual teaching and learning discussions, and to engage learning.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Not at all - receiving the plants where amazing but not much for actually teaching the students.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We got our kit a bit later than others so this will be done in a couple of weeks. We will link this the the celebration of Thanksgiving.

“The kids really enjoyed the experience. It was fascinating watching them get excited and watch the progress each day. It lead to lots of leaning about seeds and growth- and into how to look after the earth. The mixture of plants was great learning for some children who hadn't heard of some of the plants.”
