In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We enjoyed reading vegetable jokes and doing lots of talking. What is the strongest vegetable? Muscle sprout. Science- talking about living things and what they need.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students are aware of the benefits of vegetables and how important they are to help our bodies grow strong. They learnt about nutrition and the importance of good nutrition in their diets.
Little Garden was a successful learning program that promoted healthy eating and linked well to our school curriculum and incidentally our classes Term Inquiry. It also linked to wider issues and opened conversations around environmentalism and sustainability.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It linked to our Garden to Table programme where we grow food and cook simple recipes from the produce. It linked to The Life Education Bus that we did last year.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Thinking about our environment and how we can reduce waste by growing our own food at home.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They think about where their food comes from. They learned about the food pyramid and wanted to try new veggies.
I really liked the concept of this writing kit. The kids love learning about making the world a better place so why not start with the garden. We also run a programme called Garden to Table at our school so it linked really well. The kids also loved the back story of the Little Garden League!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit was great for cross curricular learning, as well as extending our learning into our Forest School experiences. We were able to explore the Maori gods Rongo and Haumia. We also explored cooking vegetables over a campfire and creating stone soup. S

The Little Garden League Kit was a huge success. Our only problem was that we didn’t have enough time to complete all of the activities that we would have liked to. On the bright side, the students have played a key part in planning out how to continue the learning that we started - we plan to continue our learning to the end of the year, and into next year too! The hands-on nature of this kit created a sense of ownership, wonder and awe for my students. Thank you School Kit and New World!

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As stated above, we used the kit as a practical way of combining what we had learned earlier in the term about looking after our environment - the soil cycle, making compost, etc.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Encouragement from the children to talk about and share their gardening experiences with those at home as well as those at school.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We didn't formally use the kit in this way, although we did talk about the vegetables that we liked and knew.
My Y0/1 children loved this kit. We connected to our topic study of looking after our environment by growing our own food, rather than the healthy eating side. The children enjoyed the codes, names and playing modified games using the plant characters. They took their plants home at the end of the term and I am getting comments and photos of how well their plants are growing now that they're in their garden. They loved getting their badges and it was fantastic to see the way they supported each other as each badge was awarded.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the kits for our maths measurement topic this term.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We had to start ours in term 4. We are a special school so the kit arrived a bit close to the holidays for us. However, this means that we are now watching out plants grow throughout the whole term and integrating it into other subjects.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Some of our students have very plain diets due to sensory issues. Some of us hadn't even heard of half of these vegetables. It has been a huge learning experience for us and continues to be.
The students in my class absolutely LOVED our Little Garden Kit. Watering our plants has become a daily routine. Our special student needed reminding at first but are starting to remember to do this on their own. Taking care of something else is a huge step for some of my students who struggle with their own independence. The delight that came from seeing our seeds sprout was indescribable. Thank you School Kit and New World for this opportunity.

The school kit worked well with our Year 1 class, during our play based time each child planted their seedling and we talked about healthy eating, promoting the different vegetables. When the seedlings started to grow we planted them in our school garden.
