How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Linked in with our Science Curriculum -We've been looking at How water works, &; how can we save water? Literacy Link (Writing) We did creative writing using the characters in Little Garden League.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Future Learning -Extending children's knowledge beyond the ";knowing eating vegetables is healthy"; to ";why it's a healthier choice and how we can grow our own vegetables"; at home.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As we are still on the journey of continuing with the School Garden kit due to changes to my program and school, I had to start the kit teaching at the much later date (Term 4 - Week 1) Some of my students have learnt new names of vegetables and
Great kit. My kids loved it. The little pots were cute. There were enough plant pots to cater for my class. The older students liked writing their own jokes, and the kit could be used in cross-curricular learning.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots of oral language and writing opportunities. We used measurement to help with planting and measuring the growth of plants as well as reading recipes. We've made graphs to share likes/dislikes.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The class are keen to have an ongoing garden so we'll need to look at seasonal plants - this sits really as well with the strand of measurement as well as the living world strand. Would like to develop the idea of pests and natural ways to deal with them
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are aware of a much wider range of vegetable options and have taken recipes and ideas home. seesaw is a great way to share their learning and some children now have gardens at home
Such a great resource, the class have absolutely loved engaging in the learning. The code breakers were and absolute hit

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As mentioned above, the kit was great for independent use during play. Being the gardener to look after plants was great. The writing/applying part was do easy to incorporate and was very engaging.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are an Enviroschool but as an newish (not quite 2years old) school, we haven't got into gardening much yet. This has given our juniors a hood kick start into using our school gardens in a sustainable way.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were encouraged to think of the things the are growing in a positive light. Kids who previously had a negative opinion of vegetables started to see them with a new lens and were open to including them more in their diet.
This has been one of the best kits for juniors I've used. The resources and suggested activities were very hands on and so easy to integrate into our normal school routine. We have a learning through play philosophy and this kit leant itself to many independent learning options that were very easy to incorporate.

we had issues receiving this as it kept being sent to a school in Auckland although our address etc was correct. In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I was hoping that we would get to taking daily photos of the growth cycle and then writing weekly diary entries about the growth of the plants.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? In future I think there could be clearer instructions for the teachers - my job share teacher and the student teacher who were running it didn't find the instructions particularly useful. I think having students design and build spaces to transfer the lit
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As stated the kit went mouldy very quickly and was disposed of before the students had the opportunity to fully engage with it.
Unfortunately as it arrived during lockdown the plans that we had had previously around the use of the little garden had to be changed due to the new circumstances. This meant that it was run by a student teacher and my job share teacher and they did not have the same buy in that I had when I registered. The kit also went very mouldy very quickly, and unfortunately the decision was made to dispose of the little garden by the other teacher and the student teacher before the class had been able to fully engage with it.
