In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This fitted in with our inquiry unit but we also did literacy and numeracy actives to match. From measuring the growth of the plants each week to writing about different areas in literacy.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Making a vege patch at school. Grawing and harvesting vegetables. Provide opportunites for studnets to prepare salads or cook veges and have a shared lunch will be a great idea.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were keen to eat more vegetables. They included carrots, tomatoes, asparagus and fruit in their lunch boxes.
This kit led to some great learning in literacy and science. Students learnt about vegetables they had not seen or heard of before. Every child had the opportunity to plant and nurture their own little plants. They learned about seeds and what plants need to grow.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I have notice children bringing more vegetables in their lunches and talking more about what is good for you .
The children In my class were very engaged and worked collaboratively to discuss and plant and nurture their seedlings. The materials you sent were perfect for my age level. They were excited to see the growth, especially after the weekend. We have now planted the seedlings in a school garden and they love going and helping to weed and water. They loved the badges and letterbox (which we will recycle Into a Room 2 letterbox ) That have learnt about a variety of new vegetables and it will be interesting to see them taste them once they have grown. Thank you for your wonderful resources and for providing a great learning experience for our tamariki.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used maths to measure our seedlings and to compare the tallest, shortest etc. We used science to find out about the life cycle of some of the vegetables and the germination of the seeds. We used written language to fill in the application forms for the
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? When our vegetables grow sufficiently so we can harvest them we will be reading and following recipes to make a meal which utilises the vegetables. This will also allow for more recount writing and measurement opportunities.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children learnt the names of some new vegetables and herbs e.g. borage and were more willing to try new foods when they were reminded of their pledge.
The unit was engaging and the children learnt about the importance of eating vegetables for health. They also learnt to sow seeds, look after the seedlings and try new foods. This fitted in well with our new school lunches which are requiring children to try foods that are new to some of them. Some things to change for next time would be the very tricky letterbox. It would have been far easier to cut it out if perhaps the cut lines were perforated or perhaps include it in the contents of the box already pre-cut. I know some of the other teachers gave up on making the box due to the difficulty in cutting such thick card, especially the slots for the tabs to fit into. The tray for the seedlings was great at first but over time it developed highly dangerous black mould. Please do not use this material again for anything which is likely to be near moisture. The risk to health is not worth the savings to the environment by using this material. The badges, pledge cards, sepia ";photograph"; and matching game certainly captured the children's interest and were easy to use.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I was hoping that we would get to taking daily photos of the growth cycle and then writing weekly diary entries about the growth of the plants.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? In future I think there could be clearer instructions for the teachers - my job share teacher and the student teacher who were running it didn't find the instructions particularly useful. I think having students design and build spaces to transfer the lit
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As stated the kit went mouldy very quickly and was disposed of before the students had the opportunity to fully engage with it.
Unfortunately as it arrived during lockdown the plans that we had had previously around the use of the little garden had to be changed due to the new circumstances. This meant that it was run by a student teacher and my job share teacher and they did not have the same buy in that I had when I registered. The kit also went very mouldy very quickly, and unfortunately the decision was made to dispose of the little garden by the other teacher and the student teacher before the class had been able to fully engage with it.
