This was a great resource, I had a lot of children continue to plant and buy more plants after they had taken their little garden home. One family built a garden for all the family to enjoy

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have incorporated this learning into our writing keeping notes on seedling changes. We have measured seedlings in math too. Also we have done some sketching in art time.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We plant the seedlings to use in future for cooking in our paddock to plate garden.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Yes the children have a better understanding of where their vegetables come from now and the range of vegetables out there. We have made an effort to eat vegetables at brain food time and discuss their goodness and nutrition benefits.
The materials were absolutely top notch.......by far my favourite school kit. The organisation of the resources and material was to perfection and so easy to follow for the teacher.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit links in nicely with science, health and maths. We measured the growth of the plant and recorded the height.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Gardening, healthy eating, life cycle of a plant, linking into bees and insects
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learning about vegetables. Giving all vegetables a try. How to look after a plant.
The children loved growing their little garden.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Reading/writing/maths
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We based lots of our reading/writnig prompts around the seedlings that the children had recieved. This. meant they they were reseaching the veges that they had and learnt interesting facts about them.
The LGK was great to use in the classroom. The students were engaged in the whole process, and really enjoyed having little gardens in the classroom.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We wrote instructional pieces on how to plant our little veges. We talked about water cycle and how plants grow. In reading we read about vegetable gardens and how to look after our seedlings.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have now signed up to have our own garden patch at school and my students are really excited about it! They have also expressed that they want to grow vege gardens at home with their whānau.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students become more aware of how our food is made, the variety in vegetables and ways to prepare food.
My students loved this kit. We have had a lot of fun looking after our seedlings and talking about healthy eating. It fit nicely with our Life Education topic last term. My only apprehension for giving it 5/5 stars is the timing. The box arrived end of Term 3 which is a busy time of year in the best of years. This year we also had our Principal of 15+ years retire at the end of Term 3 and so things were a bit manic and we haven't been able to invest the time we would have loved to into it. I would recommend My School Kit highly, as it has been an enjoyable and meaningful resource in the classroom.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We did writing, we also made our own secret messages during literacy time. We looked at the prices of vege during maths. Would loved to have dove deeper but was pushed for time with other school events.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? SWe were able to link this in with our Life Ed visit.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The badges were a bit flimsy.
My class were very engaged in completing this kit. We all really enjoyed learning more about each vege/herb. The secret messages were particularly engaging. Always love a call to action.

We learned the Maori names for a number of vegetables, we learned about how seeds germinate, and used the seedlings to explore both non-standard and standard measuring. Some children also attempted to use their phonological knowledge to sound out the name
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? From exploring this kit, I now have a number of New Entrant children who have joined the School's Gardening Club.

This is an excellent resource for sparking interest and raising awareness/gaining knowledge and understanding of where vegetables come from, that growing vegetables can be exciting and that there are more vegetables on earth than just potatoes, peas and carrots!

It was anticipation stations with students excited to take guesses surrounding the contents of the box. This had high engagement immediately. A big tick for ‘mystery’. The resources themselves were fantastic, students loved using the pledge cards and decoding the secret messages. Badges were fabulous to add the importance of ‘membership’. Of course the little garden seedlings themselves were fabulous. One element I would like to point out is that when students were creating their own codes to display, I had to enlarge a pledge card A LOT of times to get a usable size code. It would have been great to have this sheet available to print off.
