How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kit gave lots of opportunities for talk, motivation for writing and choice of topic for reading.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are going to set up a planter box in our school environment for all the children to take ownership of.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have talked about vegetables and fruit and the children are more aware of what is in their lunchboxes.
My only issue was the kit was pitched a little bit high for my New Entrant class. They really enjoyed the planting.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit tied in nicely with our inquiry topic of life processes. Learning how things grow and survive and how we can help them to thrive. It was also great for maths and we compared the growth of the plants, measured them and graphed the results. There w
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We went on to look at how worms help the soil that the plants need to grow and look at our school worm farm.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kids learnt a lot about vegetables and fruits. Most of them didn't know anything about herbs so it was great to have those included as well. We had a tasting afternoon and they discovered that if they were brave and just tried it most of them actually
This was an awesome kit. My y1/2 class were so excited to see what was in the box. The resources were high quality and everything you needed was provided. The kids were so pleased to be able to take their own plant home at the end and lots have kept me updated with how they are growing. Lots of them collected more seedling kits from our local New World when their parents were shopping.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Ate a few things we never have before. That was interesting!
We loved it but unfortunately it came too close to the holidays and the plants went home. We are currently on a kegs term and I wish I had held over to this term. But we had fun and learnt heaps.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We tied this into our literacy, by identifying the alphabet/letters on the weekly code and making up our own codes. We used celery and food colouring to show how the plants absorbed their nutrients from out of the soil.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Sustainability
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children enjoyed growing the food and then knowing what each of the vegetable were. Growing them themselves encouraged them to want to try eating them. They were all excited about being in the secret club.
The resources on the web page were child friendly and easy to find. We watched several videos multi time, each time getting different ideas out of them. The secret club had children hooked in from the start and they all proudly wore their badges. They kept the club a big secret and would not share what it was with other children if they didn't have a badge,

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The coding was a great example of a cross curricular activity. We have been learning Maori words for the parts of plants. We have been writing about plants and doing oral language activities around our plant topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be continuing to develop our school garden next year - so this topic will remain part of the teaching and learning programme for the new Year 4's.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students have become more aware of the variety of plants that they can eat and the parts of the plants they eat. When students cultivate their own crops (and later on add them to their cooking/baking) they are more likely to try new foods. This kit has al
As always the Little Garden plant pots are a great success with students. This term our topic is focused on our school garden, so the school kit has been particularly relevant. Students enjoyed completing and earning their badge as part of the the LGL. They are still proudly wearing the badges. Each day, the first thing they did upon entering the class was to check the plants - a very motivating topic.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used it as a health topic and a science topic with germination and growth cycle of a plant but beyond that it really didn’t lend itself to any other topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We talked about how the children could plant their own vegetable garden at home and they took their plant home with them before the holidays. We have a vegetable garden at school so now the children have a better understanding of what is happening as the
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It opened up the discussion of what vegetables children had tried and ones they hadn’t. We talked about how important it was to try new things and then decide whether we liked it or not.
I teach New Entrants (5 year olds) and they loved planting their seeds. It was a great learning topic for us as well. We learnt about what it took to make the plants grow and then we learnt about the stages a plant goes through when it is growing. The children loved watering the plants and then watching and looking for when the first signs of the plants coming through the soil. The only thing that created a challenge was the little signs that said what the name of the plant was became very soggy and ripped due to watering etc. I wonder if these could be made more durable.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Maths - measuring growth of plants, plotting on graphs Writing - explanation writing - how to plant a seed and care for it
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Harvesting what is grown and learning easy and different ways to prepare/use in recipes/cook.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Interesting to see which vegetables children had heard of and tried (or not tried!). Lots of new learning, taking about and understanding nutrition value of vegetables and fruit - quantities we need to eat etc
A fabulous kit - hands on and engaging! Children enjoyed having their own seed to plant and take care of. Games and activities helped to support learning. This kit also sat nicely alongside the introduction of the Garden to Table programme in our school.
