In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Links were made to Maths , Reading, Writing and Science.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We were able to study how the seedlings needed to be planted on quickly so that they could get more nutrients. As we are learning about being Kaitiaki of God's creations this has raised awareness of what we need to do to ensure that plants stay healthy.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had a trip to the Botanical Gardens, and my students were fascinated to find that some of the flowers eg. borage were actually edible.

“It was great to have the kit in my classroom. Many of my students were growing the seeds at home as well so there was a lot of discussion about which seeds were growing the fastest, etc. Most of my student' plants were ready to be taken home because it was holiday time.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The opportunites for cross-curricular learning were limitless. The children learnt about the environment and sustainability. We weaved Te-Reo in by learning the names of the vegetables in Maori. We weaved science in by learning about floating and sinking

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As above I would continue this lesson even if I did not necessarily have the small garden kit. The opportunities to cross curriculum are endless and the topic was engaging for the children. I extended for a full term and every child wrote later in student

We did a tasting test that the children were very engaged in and this led to many discussions on nutrition and how they can eat more healthy foods. In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The students wrote about their observations as they watched the plants grow. They also drew the changes they could see happening.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? What comes next... My students were interested how their vegetables/plants can be used for others things e.g. how their vegetable can be used in pies and other meals.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My students willingness to try new vegetables increased and we more open minded to trying new things.
