What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Umm wow.. we are now incubated chicken eggs…The Hub 2 'hens and roosters' faithfully turned them each day and we hatched 7 healthy chick who are now happily living at my house. We sprouted mung beans and runner beans, creating beautiful art works of wind,
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I was blown away by the number of students who had not tried some of the most obvious (to me) vegetables. They were willing to try new things and were surprised that they actually LIKED some. We are in a position where about half of our children have a 's
This has prompted so much learning and excitement. We had a ball and built our learning about spring around the kit. Loved the code breaking. Our kids had so many great questions. But they are super excited about trying and eating new vegetables now!

A fabulously put together kit that was super easy to use in our Y1 classroom. Resources were plentiful, easy to assemble, and thoroughly engaging for our 5year old children. Teacher resources were easy to follow and provided plenty of opportunity to explore a variety of themes and pathways.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We linked in technology, math, writing, reading, the arts and physical education.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning more about the environmental impact of growing your own food in comparison to buying from the store/ not local.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was interesting to find how many students had no idea where food came from - let alone how to grow their own. They were hands on and led the learning right from growing through to eating.
We have used a few kits over the past 2 years and this, by far, has been enjoyed the most by the students. From the get go, they were engaged in the learning and couldn't wait to do more the next day.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit linked perfectly with measurement - watching the seedlings grow and tracking their growth. We also wrote about the process of planting the seeds in their special cups. It prompted great oral language opportunities for my Year 0-1 class.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We had a very busy term with some other inquiry focusses (outer space!) so we didn't follow on much further with this kit. Unfortunately when we planted them in our school garden some were ruined by some extremely warm weather! That prompted further discu
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We discussed the vegetables/herbs that some of the tamariki had not heard of before and we had general discussions about healthy eating.
We felt very lucky to receive this kit, it prompted so much discussion and sharing in our class. We had a busy term so didn't complete all the activities, if it had linked more with our inquiry it would have been awesome to spend more time on.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We decided that we wanted to grow veges at our school and then possibly sell them to our families. This will open up lots of real authentic learning experiences next year
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit introduced new vegetables to some students and they had a better understanding of how they could grow their own food.
Our Hub of year 2,3 and 4's loved the LGL. It worked in perfectly with our Paddock to Plate theme. The children loved being able to grow their own vegetable / herb and this was carried through to their homelife too for the children that shopped at NW.
