What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The seedlings went home to be planted so children can watch them grow and eat the products of their mahi. This also encourages parents to share the joy of growing and eating your own food. In the future, the children will feel confident and motivated to b
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children are becoming more aware of the importance of vegetables in a balanced diet. Younger children tend to want to eat food that taste good to them. Growing their own food gives them motivation for trying something new.
The children were highly motivated to join the Little Garden League. Some of them still wear their badges proudly. They really enjoyed the hands on experience of growing seedlings. My Year 1 and 2 students were easily able to engage directly in creating the seedling pots and we had lots of discussion around each plant and how it helps to keeps our bodies healthy and strong.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I did a maths focus around it and lots of art! We have done science around it too.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children are going to go home with their own personal plants but we are keeping some class ones that we will replant. This will mean the excitement can continue.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? There has been lots of discussion about items in lunch boxes. It is a focus at our school anyway but it did help in that many children didn't know what many of the veges were!
The children loved planting and watching these plants grow. Due to us being a collaborative classroom we ended up using our buddies from a senior class to plant with us as there was not enough time to do it with a teacher and small group. The children are still playing the snap game to this day.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Integrated with Living World &; plant cycle, nutrition, chloropyll processes.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Developing our own school gardens with having a focus on enjoying a feast next Matariki!
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Seeing how &; where food comes from and how siple it is to make a garden of our own at home. Challenging the chidlren to eata 'rainbow' of own grown food &; to be brave enough to try new foods.
LGL was an excellent hook in to our science focus on the living world. Children were keen to care for the seedlings and enjoyed all the code cracking tasks supplied. The variety of ways the seeds sprouted (some pushing the seed mat out!) kept the children interested from day to day. As a school we are now making edible gardens to continue the learning, harvesting &; feasting of fresh food for the soul.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to include health, science, mathematics and art.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children have taken home a love of growing their own produce and many have created a little garden at home. We are able to use the experience of trying new things to encourage the children to have a go in other areas such as PE.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have a better understanding of where our vegetables come from. They have been encouraged to try new foods and have been pleasantly surprised by what they do actually like.
A wonderful resource that engaged the children and encouraged them to explore new vegetables. It was great to see the children showing aroha and responsibility for their seedlings as they learnt about what they needed to grow. We are planning to plant them out in our Garden to Table area once they are big enough to share with our peers.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As a class we have taken a part of the school gardens to grow vegetables and this is going to be an ongoing project every year for the New Entrants in Room 26 because I can see so many benefits for the students (and teacher!) learning to growing vegetable
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit has given the students many opportunities to discuss and learn more about what foods are healthy to eat and how we can grow this kind of food. What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Planning, planting and caring for a class vege garden, maybe with companion planting. (This would be the next step if we didn't have so many other commitments this term) Measuring growth, learning how to cook these veges
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our class veges haven't grown big enough to harvest and eat yet but I am sure the children will be enthusiastic about this. The children have been excited about collecting the sets from the supermarket and planting them at home with their parents. The veg
The kit was better suited to Year 2 /3/4 children than the New Entrant children I teach. It did tie in nicely with our focus on kaitiakitanga so having the children plant the seeds and watch them grow was appropriate.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have been able to do some fantastic learning about the science of plants.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I think there is plenty of scope to continue growing, tasting and learning about the natural world. We are also able to link into stewardship and sustainablity :)
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our students have a pretty good understanding of healthy eating and after making the pledge to taste, they are more willing to try new things and encourage each other.
Our students had a great time with this kit. Planting the seeds and then watching them grow, checking on the plants was always a priority first thing in the morning. Our seedlings are out in the school garden now and we cant wait to cook with them. We have had the opportunity to taste a few new vegetables and are still learning about how plants grow, todays lesson was all about photosynthesis! Thanks for a great kit.
