How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have been able to do some fantastic learning about the science of plants.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I think there is plenty of scope to continue growing, tasting and learning about the natural world. We are also able to link into stewardship and sustainablity :)
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our students have a pretty good understanding of healthy eating and after making the pledge to taste, they are more willing to try new things and encourage each other.
Our students had a great time with this kit. Planting the seeds and then watching them grow, checking on the plants was always a priority first thing in the morning. Our seedlings are out in the school garden now and we cant wait to cook with them. We have had the opportunity to taste a few new vegetables and are still learning about how plants grow, todays lesson was all about photosynthesis! Thanks for a great kit.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the Little Gardens in our writing and students wrote the procedure for planting their seeds. We used them for our topic on Plants and wrote about the life cycle of a seed., and parts of a plant. We also used the vegetables as an example of healthy
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Opportunities for future learning came when we talked about plants and growing things in our topic. Students are keen for us to plant more seeds and we have a Year Two garden which we will plant the seeds in, and watch as they grow stronger and hopefully
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My students have become more aware of the different vegetables that they can grow since engaging with the Little Gardens, both at school and at home. They each have vegetables that are their favourites. They are more aware of the health benefits of the ve
My class loved doing the Little Garden and really enjoyed planting their seeds. Lots of them had been planting the gardens at home too, and it was great to see them so engaged and excited about a project at school. One of my students has lent us her Little Garden watering can for us to water the plants. As we had our Little Garden kits late, due to being on the waiting list, our plants have not grown too much yet. We only planted last week as we waited until Term 4 to plant. I have been very pleased with the results so far and how much my students have really enjoyed this activity. Each one of them has been engaged and love seGreeing the progress their plants are making.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are still continuing with the theme and growing more things.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We talked about and shared with families our learning and although it hasn't happened yet (still growing!) will be sharing recipes and cooking with our vegetables.
It was a lovely kit that really inspired the children. They went on to grow other things at school (still ongoing!!!) and at home!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As our programme was very busy at this time, we were, unfortunately, unable to pursue many of the potential possibilities. Science: labelling parts of plants; Technology: algorithms for planting a seed; Te Reo: naming veges. We also integrated the theme i
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Science: life cycle Maths: measuring plants Art: drawing plants/collage/modelling Health: preparing/cooking veges Using language to label and describe plants and veges and talk about gardening.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Listening to others share their experiences of a variety of vegetables prompted new interest from others. A few had tried new ones at home as a result.
Our class of New Entrants loved becoming members of the Little Garden League. The Application Letters captured their interest, even though they needed lots of help to complete them. They particularly enjoyed sharing vege jokes. It was great to see the wide variety of suggestions for trying new vegetables. Of course, planting their seeds was the favourite activity. We purchased the Garden League watering cans, which were just right for our students to manage. Unfortunately, we only had a week before the holidays to watch them grow, but the excitement when the seedlings emerged was delightful. The children took them home to care for at the end of term. The range of resources offered gave a huge range of possibilities for the direction of learning and were a good mix of fun and instruction. The coded messages were beyond most of our children and didn't really engage them, even though we worked on the first one together. Also, the badges fell apart quite quickly.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It was only a minor focus for us - but related to our main focus of "; The needs of Trees and Plants";. There were opportunities for maths, Art, Writing and Science. The resources sent to school provided so many opportunities.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Looking at Native Trees, native birds, bees, etc
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was a hands on, practical kit which showed the students where food comes from. Also the focus to try new foods and that they can be eaten in different ways.
It was an amazing kit and an amazing resource with heaps of fantastic ideas. We were very spoilt by New World and school kit to have such an exciting resource. It was great the 'secret' approach and that it involved supporters wider than the school community. The ideas shared on facebook and in other ways were brilliant. It was the first time involved with School kit and it was great experience. THANK YOU!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Life cycle of plants (science) Favourite vege graphs (maths) Vege descriptions (writing) Measuring growth (maths)
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Planning, planting and caring for a class vege garden, maybe with companion planting. (This would be the next step if we didn't have so many other commitments this term) Measuring growth, learning how to cook these veges
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our class veges haven't grown big enough to harvest and eat yet but I am sure the children will be enthusiastic about this. The children have been excited about collecting the sets from the supermarket and planting them at home with their parents. The veg
The kit was better suited to Year 2 /3/4 children than the New Entrant children I teach. It did tie in nicely with our focus on kaitiakitanga so having the children plant the seeds and watch them grow was appropriate.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We did writing around what the children noticed about the plants as they grew and they wrote wonderings for what they wanted to know more about. It was a good activity for their oral language the whole way through from the initial planting to watering and
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Observational drawings as the plants start to grow more and when the vegetables are ready.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were excited to try new vegetables and to share with others which new ones they have tried.
This kit is always a hit! I was super excited to see the little gardens again this year and my class has been just as excited as me. I loved the story that came with it which I think has helped the children to remember the names of each plant as they seem to have picked up the names really fast. It's been great for them to take responsibility for the plants and to learn more about vegetables and how they grow. The children enjoy getting to collect them at home as well as having the complete set at school. My children loved the secret codes and the badges that were a part of this kit. The only thing I'd change would be to plant them after the school holidays as they weren't ready to plant outside before holidays but it was getting a bit late by the time we were back and got around to planting them outside.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to link this resource to maths, reading, writing and science. Lots of learning across the curriculum including the KCs.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continuation of our vegetable garden at school and healthy lunchbox ideas.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children learned the names of different vegetables and how they benefit our bodies. Some even tried new vegetables in our weekly cooking sessions.
The kit was easy to use and provided great resources, we particularly enjoyed the code cracking. This activity kept our children focused and taught them a new skill. Children were able to used the resource independently and enjoyed finding the Little League characters on TV and in their local supermarket. The seeds were easy to plant and introduced children to new vegetables they hadn't tried before.
