How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A lot of students did not know the vegetable names, especially ESOL students. Their knowledge afterwards was greatly improved. We did a pre and post test.
My Year 3 class were very excited to see what was in the box. WE wrote about what the box contained before we started. Their favourite part was opening the packets to see what their vegetable was. That caused great discussion about vegetables we eat and how they help our bodies stay healthy. We integrated Maths by doing graphs about our most popular vegetable. It was fabulous to work outside for the planting which we did on our weekly Stem day. We had growing competitions and discussed why some grew faster than others. Children were excited to collect them at home to add to their vege garden. Once they were to big for our room children took them home/ I still get regular updates about how much growing their plants are doing. Thank you so much to you and New World for the great opportunity.
