The children loved this topic and were all really motivated. Just like last time the children loved planting the seeds and receiving their badges. The resources provided really add to the unit and the introduction hooks the children in. Allows for quality integration and having it sent out saves so much time for the teachers.

This kit was good but I found it hard to get the buy in with initial story, the young children found it hard to relate to. The young Year 2's in y class found it hard to fill in the Club Membership forms independently. Could the form be have an easier version next time too? The timing of getting the kits and then the badges had a huge impact on when we could start the kit and then to get buy in for the club. They loved planitng and growing the plants though.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As we haven't quite finished our plants yet, the children are beginning to talk about growing these plants at home and how it will be cheaper and enable them to eat more veges that are good for us.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Students began to recognise their plants and other children's plants as they were growing. Finding their plants in books and reading about them.
Students loved planting their plants and watching the magic Earth grow in front of their eyes. They were excited as soon as they saw the little pots. They have eagerly waited for their seed to pop through the ground. They are now racing to see whose is the tallest and biggest. Loved the resources that were available to use with this too !

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our vegetables are still growing & teacher was away for a portion of topic. Also no budget to go and buy vegetables from supermarket.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Little impact - was hard to progress with this
Student engagement was high - a lot of students away & for parts of it teacher away too so the continuity was missing. Have trouble continuing to grow the plants once transferred to outside garden.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Making vegetable soup (from store-bought veggies!) and all being prepared to sample it and give their opinion. Definitely a lot more fresh veggie snacks in their lunchboxes. Several children have gone on to be more involved in their family veggie gardens.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The children sorted, and identified plastic vegetables and named them in their own languages. They told us how they like to eat them at home and if they were raw or cooked. General veggie knowledge was quite good, but all children learnt new veggie names
The children have loved growing their own plants and some also had their own NW little gardens at home. They loved showing their parents how the plants were growing and couldn't wait to take them home. The resources in the kit were great but I found the online aspect of teacher resources etc this time challenging.
