In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students began to notice what vegetables they had eaten at home recently and what they had eaten for lunch. They were excited to share their ideas with others and wanted to bring vegetables to share with their friends!

My students loved the Little Garden League school kit! The initial code cracker, badges, and messages from the LGL were loved by all. Students felt a real ownership over their plants and were delighted to find other classes in the school also involved. The activities allowed for whole class participation that meant students were engaged in small group, whole class, and individual levels. They enjoyed every aspect of the school kit and had lots of fun! So did I! We left this kit to start at the beginning of Term 4 so the plants weren't left over the holidays. Thank you so much for this amazing resource! The discussion it created over their favourite vegetables continued through many lunchtimes and they are excited to try the new plants they are growing once they are ready. It has encouraged the students to experiment and try new foods, and I have heard from parents these conversations have continued at home.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My class was very excited to learn about new veges they would like to try at home and some new ones were tied at school that they loved.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Kids were excited to see the many veges we grew. Could have used more time as vegetables didn’t all mature and with price of vegetables so high many children do t get a wide variety at home.
Great unit that children really enjoyed. Would have liked more of a sequence for teaching outline as somehow missed a step and it affected outcome. Loved the matching game and quality of resources. My year 3 class loved the drama of the setup and we enjoyed writing diaries about what was happening to our seeds. Thank you for showing this great resource. I look forward to doing this again with future groups. It fit in beautifully with our unit on the sun and its role in photosynthesis. Having access to such a wide variety of plants was also very helpful. Each had a different growing time height etc which we integrated onto maths and statistics. More links to other curriculum areas would be helpful if considering any revision of this unit We used this info to lead into another about physical activity and healthy living.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We competed some art activities around our plants and photosynthesis. We using it for writing activities explaining what plants need to survive. This lead to Virtual Adventure (Fitbits and healthy eating to fuel our bodies)

My students enjoyed the little gardens taking responsibility for watering them and moving them inside and outside at the beginning and end of the day. I took them home and have planted the plants in their gardens at home. They have all survived except one.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? There were some vegetables they had never heard of which was a great away to introduce and learn more about the plant.
I think it was a great experience for my children. They were very excited to learn and immerse themselves in the topic along with watching them grow. I definitely will get this for my class next year and would love to dive into it more.

They just see it in the fridge or on the supermarket shelves and did not know where/how most of it was grown. Many students thought it was disgusting having not tried many. We talked abo

The students in my class have LOVED this experience. They have been so excited to watch their Little Garden grow. There is lots of discussion daily about the growth, whose is doing what, why some are not growing as fast as others, how important conditions are, which has led to further discussions and questions from the students. Everything arrived on time, it was easy to register, and I have enjoyed this as a teacher. I would love to do this again!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Myself and the children learnt lots about vegetables that were apart of the seedling packs that we had never heard of before.
Thank you for the Little garden pack. Our children enjoyed exploring what was inside the pack. We enjoyed planting the seedlings as apart of our exploratory play. We were able to incorporate this into our writing, integrated learning and inquiry.
