In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It made some students realise how easy it is to grow things from seeds and that vegetables are accessible to all. The kids became more open to try things that they thought they didn't like or hadn't tried before.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It helped them recognise that not all vegetables look the same or grow at the same rate. They also connected the seedlings to plants in the school vege garden and were surprised they could recognise some things from very small.
The kids loved that this was hands on and there was enough for everyone to have a go. Everyday they came in and checked the plants first thing. They were surprised that the different plants looked so different from such a young age. It was wonderful to have something practical to invigorate the learning.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A lot of my students don't have the healthiest family lifestyles so they gained a lot of knowledge about new veges, how to care for veges etc
We are a fruit in schools school so this was a great opportunity to extend our learning around healthy eating and lifestyles. The kit was full of really useful and practical resources and the online site provided a lot of additional information and support. The students were really engaged from day one and loved both the hands on experience of growing their own gardens and being part of a secret squad and receiving secret codes!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The kids loved the card naming game but did get confused between the cartoon version and the actual plant.
It tied in nicely with our science learning and the water cycle and we linked it to how important water is for living things. Our kids loved the badges!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Making comparisons.
