How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? How to 'hide' vegetables in dinner recipes. If they did not like the taste of the vegetables, they thought of a way to incorporate it into their favourite meals. E.g grating parsnip, kumura into nacho mince.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most children were able to identify 90% of the plants. A lot of healthy eating happening at home prior to this kit arriving.
The kit was great and my Year 4 class loved learning about growing and caring for plants. However, I do feel the kit should have been sent out at the beginning of the term. Because they didn't have enough time to grow and then be planted in the school garden. The timing of the kit was just a little off. But other than that, it was a well thought out and interactive kit.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The kids were able to learn about vegetables they hadn't all heard of before.
The children greatly enjoyed planting their seeds. Unfortunately most of their growing happened over the holidays so they missed it. We would have liked to be able to plant them at school but didn't have the space so the children took them home.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Food is used to fuel bodies with vitamins and minerals. We loved finding out what was in each of our foods, and broadening this to other foods we eat.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most of our tamariki have a broad knowledge of vegetables, so we started looking at words in te reo Māori.
We loved the Little Gardens School Kit. Highly engaged tamariki, learning all about Grow, Protect and Taste of vegetables. We learned the names in Te Reo Maori, sign language for Grow, Protect, Taste, enjoyed using the collectors guide to find out who we were planting, tried new foods from broad beans to sunflower seeds, coconut to cranberries. The plants are in our school garden with a groups of students tending to them on a daily basis.
