In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think its allowed students the chance to not be so quick to decide if they like something or not. How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I think the kids enjoyed the tasting the most as they could see and try each vegetable/fruit. So their every sense was used to experience the fruit/vege.
I thought the information/planning at first was quite hard to find. You sort of had to click through a million places to finally get there. The activities themselves were quite fun my class has really enjoyed the code crackers. I also loved the badges what an awesome idea!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Most of our children are willing to try new vegetables and include them in their daily diet. 5+ was a concept they had heard of, and understood that a serving size was roughly the size of their hand. Healthy eating abounds!
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Our children grow many of these vegetables in our garden to table programme, so while they were aware of the different types, they didn't realise the differences in the germination and growing times of each different type of plant. In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were already aware of the need for a balanced diet. Brainfood is eaten at brain break time and healthy eating is encouraged at lunchtime but this Kit introduced the children to new veggies and I noted that because of the kit they went looking
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Still have a wee bit of work to do with the New Entrants. Good recognition of the common known types of veggies eg, carrot, corn, cabbage. Still learning about borage, thyme, the different radishes and kale vs silverbeet etc.
Such a great kit. Children loved the surprise of the box arriving and the extra special badge delivery. This is such a great kit for the use of topic appropriate language, questioning and general discussion. Curiosity was high with students asking what each plant was and how long they would take to germinate and grow, where the best place was to put them in the classroom so they had just the right environment. Who was going to be in charge of watering etc.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students in my class were mostly already savvy with what is 'not healthy' i.e. chocolate biscuits, lollies etc. We encourage the language of 'treats, sometimes food and food they can have more of'. It's hard for some whānau of our students as they act
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Surprising the difference in how many of the students were able to identify the vegies. Most students knew the basic ones but some knew quite a few. Students also shared about helping their parents do cooking and that's how they know.
