How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? There were a number of discussions around vegetables and this was great for exposing those children with very little knowledge in this area to various vegie names, and helping others who do know some names use their knowledge to help others.
This was such a great kit! The kids loved planting the little gardens and we had the bunting on display and wrote the little letters, posting them into the letterbox and then having the badges 'mailed' to our school in reply to the letters! The kids felt a sense of achievement to get their badges. I was surprised that some of the children in my class knew lots about vegetables, but others knew very little - it was a great way to get discussing different vegetables, what plants need to grow and what healthy humans need to grow too!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? My class learnt a few new vegetables such as the bok choy and also herbs such as thyme.
My class loved planting and learning about what was needed for their little garden. Posters were made and comparisons of which plants grew first and highest were made. It was good having a few extra as a couple didn't come up. The one thing I would do differently would be to put a little wooden toothpick/iceblock stick behind the sign because as soon as we watered them they fell over.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have harvested some of the vegetables and had a syndicate sharing where they made there own sandwiches. All at least tried a nibble of something they hadn't had before. As a school we are pushing healthier eating so this ties in nicely.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We grew to seedling stage then the kids took home to plant in their own gardens. Too excited to leave at school. However, our school has had 3 big vege gardens donated, built and planted by Bunnings in term 3 so we could look at each of our plants and har
We loved the resource and the opportunity for hands on learning. The chn diligently checked every day for progress and compared the different veges as they popped through. They wanted to take them home to show off and plant every day. The chn loved the whole pack and were proud of their badges. Only a couple didn't come through but we had spares from another class. Very cool resource!
