In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are always encouraging our children to have healthy choices in their lunchbox. We have fruit breaks at school etc. This just helps them to realise that maybe they could try growing their own vegetables at home.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Children know the more obvious vegetables and have been introduced to those less well known and not purchased bu their parents.
The students I did this with enjoyed the planting. We just added it to our school garden. Many children had never planted a seed and so the were eager to give it a go. Not all of our seeds germinated however, for various reasons but the process is always very valuable. A lot have become interested in our gardening group and planting our school garden

This is the third time I have used this kit and this year didn't disappoint. I did have to adapt a lot of the lessons for my Year 1 class however that didn't interfere with the enthusiasm the children had for learning about growing their plants. We are currently just winding up with a tasting on a variety of vegetables on Friday of this week.
