In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? 5 plus a day came into this, never got to try the vege, but hopefully get to taste next year when fully grown - however this may be in the school holidays so they will miss out.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Lots - there were quite a few plants the children did not know, gave time to research and find facts about them.
This tied in beautifully with our flora unit. The kids loved planting the veges and watching them sprout. We have been seeing which vege grows the fastest and which haven't (good discussion of possible why's). Veges have been transplanted into our school garden.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Just starting as we only planted them this term but the students were very excited when they started germinating. Great discussion around the words, germination, repotting and harvesting.
The students have really enjoyed this kit and are excited to take them home to plant. It was a good follow on from a science kit we had last term where we learned about the water cycle and growing beans.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We have had a big focus on healthy eating already this year, so growing our veges is an extension of this. Each student will get a vege pot to take home when they are big enough.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students are talking about healthy eating and critiquing each others' lunchboxes. I am always asked about the vegetables I have in my lunch too.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We have done lots of learning about this already this year, so the vege pots are building on this learning and extending it to new veges that the students may not be familiar with.
The students enjoyed planting their vege pots and we all look each morning to see how they are growing. The students are so excited to see the growing of their seedlings. It was interesting to see how many students did not know anything about gardening before we did our planting.

So great to have a resource that uses something the children use in their every day life. Many didn’t know how to plant a seed! We also linked this to our garden to table sessions. Our children love taking care of their own plant. The badges were super cool!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? There were quite a few veges my children hadn’t heard of so we sampled each one ( I purchased ), there were a few that wouldn’t try them but mostly did.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We built on veges we knew and were familiar with to the more obscure ones. Did a bit of research and finished with sampling them.
An excellent engaging kit for new entrants. Quite a long term one so hard to review properly this point as we are still growing them and they will go home with them at the end of term.
