In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children loved making their Hulk smoothies and couldn't quite believe there was spinach in there as they tasted so good!

We really loved using the Little Garden League Kit in our classroom. It was a lovely opportunity for our year 8 Big Buddies to support our Year 0-1 children in completing the application form, planting the seedlings and code cracker activities. The children enjoyed taste testing our Hulk smoothies too!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were interested to try some new vegetables after solving the final code cracker. Some mentioned having tried new foods at home during the duration of the kit. I liked having a really clear link to encourage healthy eating and celebrate health
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Limited - Vege patch match helped a little, but I didn’t notice significant change in this area
My class really enjoyed this school kit. They loved the responsibility of looking after their own plant (and the excitement of checking for growth each day!) Lots of learning around how plants grow and a small amount of interest in learning about different vegetables. I didn’t realise that many children in my class had used this same school kit 2 years ago, so it was a shame that it was all exactly the same with no slight variations. This did make the children less engaged than they might otherwise have been. I love that everything you require is provided!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lots of sharing and discussion based around our home life and who has gardens and what they like to eat. Also lots of discussion - at Brain Break each day, about the importance of having a healthy snack to help move the energy through our bodies.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The students definitely know which vegetables they are looking forward to harvesting!
This is the second time I have used the Little Garden Kit and the content is even better this time round. Just loved the addition of the badges to promise to help others to grow, protect and taste veges! Our Year One students are just so proud and stood taller as they carried home their seedlings to protect and nurture them over the upcoming holidays. Thanks so much for an excellent resource.
