How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The kit was a really useful tool to expand students knowledge of vegetables and herbs - lots of the students didn't know what some of the veggies and herbs were so were interested in learning more and finding out how to cook and eat them.
The little Garden kit was awesome! My class were excited from the moment it arrived and were keen to get going as soon as possible. They were all asking questions about who would have which pot and sparked many conversations about favourite vegetables and who grew veggies at home. They have taken great care in looking after, watering and watching their pots as they have grown and were so pleased to transplant them into bigger pots. Overall..a really engaging kit.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I'm sure as the plants continue to grow, we will get some genuine understanding of what vegetables look like and how they grow.
We have thoroughly enjoyed using the resources you have kindly donated to us to explore plant systems in my play-based year 1 classroom. We have made a role-play cafe, made models of plants with up cycled materials, looked at how insects, humans and plants work together in a system in our science, used literature to promote reading and writing around the topic, measured and compared growth in our maths, and have made a beautiful garden out of pallets to house our growing garden and observational artwork has been blossoming almost as much as the plants themselves! Ngā mini Nui!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The tamariki were so proud to be able to identify vegetables. We extended this activity by bringing in vegetables from our home gardens to cook and eat with the tamariki. Some hadn't tried many of the vegetables before so were super proud of themselves es
Love these kits for my ORS tamariki. Many are not exposed to this type of experience so a wonderful way to teach sustainable practises for the future. The tamariki are beginning to identify a variety of plants now.

The tamariki I sourced the Little Garden Kit for are 16 ORS tamariki. I adapted some of the activities to suit their needs. The tamariki were fully engaged in the planting of the seeds and were excited to check their seeds daily to see if they had grown. Many were wanting to water their plants which is great to see their learning come through as they know they need water and sun to grow. We spent some time in our school allotted garden preparing the ground ready to transplant. The School kits are well thought through and offer great ideas to extend the learning further.
