In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit prompted home school relationships and also connections with our wider community. Students are yet to 'reap what they sow' but will do shortly! Many whanau commented that it has prompted them to use more veggies at home!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I was suprised at what the tamariki already knew - and then went onto learn.

“Thank you so much for supporting our gardening club to grow, understand and appreciate food that we grow. Such a great kit and the resources were awesome in supporting oral and written language development. The seedlings are now in our garden and we are looking forward to harvesting soon. The tamariki LOVED this kit (as did the kaiako)!”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Children tried following the instructions to involve themselves in their learning, especially for reading and writing. Using measurement while soaking the soil.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Through planting and growing vegetables, children were able to successfully sell the vegetables to parents and use the money to buy more vegetables and promote healthy eating habits.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Children were able to read and see the pictures of the vegetables. They were able to identify how long it takes to grow each vegetable and extra information to share with their parents.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The realisation that it is good to keep trying new things. Many were encouraged to try out something they hadn't before.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some children learnt a few types. I was surprised at how many they did already know.

“My colleague and I used the Little Garden kit. The delays in it getting to us was a slight disruption to our plans. However, the children enjoyed it and there was lots of talk about the different vegetables and trying new things. We set up a corner display. My colleague has included photos that is from us both”
