In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We talked about healthy food and growing your own food at home. This generated a lot of conversation about what they grow at home and what produce on the table comes from their own garden. It generated a desire to grow more things at home to eat.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most students could already identify the vegetables.
The students loved planting these little boxes and waiting to see what would pop up. They were very eager to regularly water the plants. It was a lovely focus to have in the classroom. It was a great success in terms of interest, coming in every day to see if their plants had sprouted.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A huge impact! It was interesting how many tamariki had no idea about what types of vegetables were out there and what they looked like.
We loved how this taught our kids about healthy eating, different types of vegetables and that food is not just picked up from a supermarket. They enjoyed planting and being part of watering them in our classroom. The little gardens fitted in with our whole school term concept of Kaitiakitanga. It gave us lots to write about, hands on activities and an ability to see how our work flourished into something tangible. The tamariki are looking forward to taking their plants home in the next few days to plant at home for the holidays. Thank you school kit we love your kits!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Love the 'spot it' game with vegetables, this helped ID for some students. The seedlings went home over the school holidays so they were never more than a seedling for us to observe in class.
High student engagement, much excitement over growth and speed of growth. Great opportunity to spark conversations about plants and vegetables. Love the hands on learning involved, it was a good task for building the ability to carefully follow instructions. Provided writing opportunities, observation and predictions.
