In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We used a previous school kit that made muffins from different vegetables and it was a great success. This would go brillantly with this kit.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The booklet from New World helped identify unknown vegetables.
The children enjoyed planting their little gardens and watching them sprout over time. We predicted which plants would sprout first and which would take longest. Once sprouted we planted these in our school garden.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We made some vege soup in the class and everyone was surprised that with a little bit of salt and pepper they taste much better

My class was so excited to repot the seedlings and take it home as end of the year presents to their whanau! Thank you for all the amazing kits that you gifted us.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They were eager to know what they had gotten. They learnt about how they could use those vegetables in recipes, how they grow differently and also what makes each vegetable different
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They were already very independent with this as they’d done them at home before. It was great though because they could support eachother if they hadn’t done it before and it became very student led and the students became the teachers.
The kids loved it when it was introduced. They loved having them especially since they’d had them from the supermarket before. They took care of their plants everyday, remembered to water them and were very interested in learning about the different vegetables. They also all loved the submission to being apart of a “secret club” and the badges to match that were a huge hit.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Children tried following the instructions to involve themselves in their learning, especially for reading and writing. Using measurement while soaking the soil.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Through planting and growing vegetables, children were able to successfully sell the vegetables to parents and use the money to buy more vegetables and promote healthy eating habits.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Children were able to read and see the pictures of the vegetables. They were able to identify how long it takes to grow each vegetable and extra information to share with their parents.
Little Garden was a hook activity for the children.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This encouraged many students to want to grow plants at home or with grandparents. Some students tried vegetables they had never eaten before.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Children who had never grown vegetables before were really surprised with how the process worked and were inquisitive by the results as they saw the plants grow and mature.
The little garden kit was incredible. The children loved planting a variety of plants in the school garden. This then encouraged them to try different vegetables they had never eaten before. It was so hands on and lots of fun. Many students who had not been involved showed a keen interest in watching the plants grow and learning valuable skills too.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Maths /science. Understanding how plants grew, what they needed to grow. Found and showed a great video on seed germination which was a great lead into little gardens.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Junior students were able to identify the generic vegetables, didn't know some vegetables so good opportunity to google and investigate the unknown vegetables.
Kids were engaged and love watching their plants grow. Comparing why some grew faster than others. Great way to talk about healthy food options.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We won't get the benefit of veges from the crops for a while but lots of students related to eating veges at home.

The kits were awesome but lots of the seeds didn't strike. Lucky we had extras.
