We explored the science of growing plants and explored what was needed to grow healthy plants. We discussed carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. We learnt the te reo names of some of the vegetables.

My year two children were already fairly knowledgeable about healthy eating with a very positive attitude towards eating fruit. We focussed on the importance of a balanced diet and incorporating more veggies into it.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables?
The children were all reasonably good at identifying different vegetables, but had no idea about the herbs so that was a great learning opportunity.
