In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My year two children were already fairly knowledgeable about healthy eating with a very positive attitude towards eating fruit. We focussed on the importance of a balanced diet and incorporating more veggies into it.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The children were all reasonably good at identifying different vegetables, but had no idea about the herbs so that was a great learning opportunity.
My year two learners found this school kit super engaging. They couldn't wait to set up a special place in the classroom and start growing the plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Classes have tried new herbs and were happy to eat them from the container and garden.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This has been enlightening as many pupils have not tried some of the veges and herbs before so the matching card game and posters were fantastic for encouraging recognition.
The students were immediately engaged in this.Working specifically with Ors funded pupils and Esol they loved the whole process .A lot of the seeds were unfamiliar and so the vegetable matching game has been a great his and provided a competitive but fun aspect to our sessions. The pupils were keen to observe the development of the seedlings and were delighted when the first popped through the soil after only a few days. The actual planting process was fun although getting the wee labels to stick not always successful. They loved how the soil disc grew before their eyes. The activities for pupils such as post box and the questionnaire all enhanced their learning and encouraged observational skills and thinking.,. The initial strike rate for the seedlings was high but on transferring to a larger pot not all survived. Once planted into the soil outside the survivors have continued to thrive.Next step is the produce.By the way we started around halfway through the term so we are not harvesting yet.It will happen so thank you.
