Using the kit has prompted me to build a collection of evidence from the school archive for students to explore the stories and historys of the school rather than our traditi

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? As a history teacher I have felt confident teaching New Zealand History. What I have enjoyed is the variety of stories which has opened the students minds to the scope of New Zealand's History.

“This is a great kit with so much potential. There are so many different ways it can be use within our programme. Students were engaged and enjoyed exploring the different stories. It was a shame that not all of the resources were complete for the stories meaning that students could not follow the pathway and unpack what happened there. I hope that these will all be finished for 2023.”

As I am starting at a brand new school next year this is definitely something that we have done in preparing for next year. It is so important to understand the place that we are standing and the significance that it holds to the local area and its people

“I really enjoyed this School Kit however I moved schools and did not get to complete this. My team teacher did though. We loved the interactive nature of the kids and the variety of things that the students could explore.”

“What a wonderful opportunity to explore many facets of NZ History. The tactile hands on resources were superb - the quality of them provoked a lot of talk and curiosity in my classroom. My own family (including my elderly parents) were so interested too. We could have spent all year exploring this kit. I plan revisit this kit and keep using it in my Aotearoa Histories teaching.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Having a look around the local area is important, which is why we began with the item from the kit that was closest to here. It would be nice to have a continued local focus.
