How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I realise it isn't easy to find the right people to share the history, but know it is important to identify places of interest to maori in our own backyard and teach that to our tamariki, first.

Made connections with whānau and what they remembered as a kid. Students wanted to know more, which led to more talk about Maori history from Tai tokerau.

An amazing resource with an incredible amount of content! I allowed my year 7/8 class to each pick one place card and explore that area. My more capable students were able to explore the content and have created Google Slides of their findings that are college level work. However, lots of my students found even the Tasks 1 and 4 (designed for year 5/6 students) quite challenging and needed lots of teacher support. In hindsight I would work through one place card with the majority of my students next time.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Our school has a few local stories that most of our teachers know. Getting these stories told with a connection to iwi and our local community would be powerful. Using the same model is a great idea that could be pursued.

The physical kit was fabulous and my students were curious to explore the stories and meanings related to the objects. The pepeha was a great way to have clues to unlock where the place where something has happened. My students were challenged by the research aspect related to some tasks and needed to go further with their own searches to find information for some of the cards. There was so much to explore with this kit and I envisage using it again with a lot more teacher guidance. Thanks for another fabulous resource School Kit.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I really liked the way the"read a photo' information was set out and I have used this model during oral language activities.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Lots of great stories and a wide variety of topics. I can see it being used over and over again. E.g. When looking at protest as part of a unit, the Springbok tour protest would be a perfect vehicle for discussion, as would Bastion point.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The stories were very thorough, and knowing this does give you confidence. The last thing you want to do is it get this wrong, so having it 'from the horses mouth' gives you that confidence.

Great kit with lots of 'meat' to it. Lots for students to delve into. Only really just started, and wanting to continue to use next year (and after?) - This kit seems to lend its self towards this. Some part difficult to read - possible include a transcript for the older, handwritten letters/information? High interest for most, but less for others.

What a great variety of places and events to explore. Our students loved handling the old photos and artefacts and appreciated having the freedom to explore their chosen location at their own pace. We’ve identified that many of our students will need a tighter checkpoint system to stay on task. A resource we definitely plan to use again.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Great guidance into how our kids see their world, how we adapt to events and experiences in family and whanau. So much the community can learn from each other / from generation to generation / from family to family.

Found many of the stories fascinating. Children were keen to know about the past. Some material difficult for the class to understand and get their heads around. Provoked home discussions as well.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This kit has made me realise how the small stories have helped develop NZ into what country it is today. The structure was easy and looked at all different sides to the stories which was great for comparing different people views.

This was a fascinating kit. It took the students to places that they had never been to before. The structure of the Kit was great it kept the students engaged and wanting to learn more. They were fascinated with the physical objects that came with the kit, they could relate to the objects rather than looking at pictures of them. For my self it has been a great learning of the other stories of NZ.
