How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I really liked the way the"read a photo' information was set out and I have used this model during oral language activities.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Lots of great stories and a wide variety of topics. I can see it being used over and over again. E.g. When looking at protest as part of a unit, the Springbok tour protest would be a perfect vehicle for discussion, as would Bastion point.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The stories were very thorough, and knowing this does give you confidence. The last thing you want to do is it get this wrong, so having it 'from the horses mouth' gives you that confidence.

“Great kit with lots of 'meat' to it. Lots for students to delve into. Only really just started, and wanting to continue to use next year (and after?) - This kit seems to lend its self towards this. Some part difficult to read - possible include a transcript for the older, handwritten letters/information? High interest for most, but less for others.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Great way to intergrate NZ histories into the class. Was able to use the photos for inferring discussions as well.

“I found this kit to be quite confusing as to where to start. I am hoping to use this kit at the beginning of 2023 to begin the year with my new class. Is this kit suitable for year 3/4 students? It seems like it might be aimed more at older students?”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? So awesome. I felt excited about teaching Social Studies every day! Ps. I'm doing this on my phone and I can't see half the questions, or click 5 stars, but that's what I would rate this resource!

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Our akonga whose own histories have not had voice felt validated. Our students who previously had one perspective, discovered that in fact NZ history is not always palatable. That was interesting to watch, their world views opened up and their assumptions

“My Year 8 class loved this kit! We launched with a wall of wondering, looking at all the source materials. Students chose a postcard and the treasure hunts began! It was fascinating following the trails and piecing together the stories of each place. We combined this learning with our creative writing and chose a key figure from our site to write a"first hand account". Powerful and evocative! I will try to attach a vid. Awesome kit, school kit! So open ended, rich and full of learning skills!”

“What a treasure trove. My excitement was similar to students. Amazing, rich resource. Found it a bit tricky to pick up and use, so feel I have not made full use of it yet. The literacy level needed was high, and at times the sites tricky for young/lower ability students struggled. Next year I will rework and rethink how best to plan.”
