How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It was great to have local stories. The students were really engaged with the activities the could easily connect with.

“Students really enjoyed looking through all the different artifacts, and the found the topics that were from our areas really engaging. It led to lots of good discussion and research around a range of topics from our history.”

“The tool itself contained beautiful resources and alligned with the curriculum really well. I found it a bit challenging for my Y5/6 students as the language and concepts were rather high level. Also the reliance on computers posed a bit of a problem as we don't have enough for all students. It was useful in creating teachable moments though. For example I discovered that my students were not faniliar with the concept of Polynesian and so we were able tk talk about that and I planned other classes to support that learning.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I believe I could, with some time. Unfortunately I still haven't had too much of a chance to use this as much as I wanted. Instead, to grow my exposure, I worked with a colleague to do the tasks.
