“My class really enjoyed this kit and learning about NZ histories! some elements I found hard to follow such as the photo and stories and my year 4 class found this tricky. Thank you for a great kit though that created some wonderful discussions in the classroom”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes - we have established a relationship with our local hapu Ngati Rehia, and have had a PLD session with our full school staff at our local Marae.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes, I have just engaged with our local council to explore our local stream in 2023 and discover what happened there and why it has been forgotten.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I feel much more confident in delivering the histories curriculum, I had a bit of knowledge before but now I know how to start and what questions or prompts to pose to scaffold my kids into accessing the big ideas.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? My students found the student website too wordy and difficult to understand so they were unable to work on it independently.We did a couple together as a class and then adapted it - looking at reading photographs etc

“I really liked the look of this school kit and was excited to start it with my class. However they found it very wordy and were not interested enough to dig deep and find out the interesting things. We did a few together as a whole class and then adapted it.”
