How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The ";Sharing with whanau"; component was successful when students were encouraged to share family stories.

“The tamariki really enjoyed using the lunch time play project and were very motivated to get the stickers. We used the energy recharge and that helped some tamariki to 'reset' themselves. I appreciated getting some more detailed instructions around the play project.”

“Overall this kit has been a very positive influence in my classroom. We spent a long time focussing on our own individual wellbeing and delving deep into Te Whare Tapa Whā as well as individual resilience and breathing and calming the body and mind. We the focussed on relationships with others. This kit provided the basis for our Inquiry Unit throughout Term 3 (after lockdown) and we will continue to use parts of it for the remainder of the year. It was very timely after Covid had such an effect on our country. I really liked how the kit weaves through all learning areas and we could incorporate it across the day with all of our learning.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? A lot of the children appear to relate to other students in a more positive way. Ii worked for most but to varying degrees.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? THe lunchbox project was really good to get students to appreciate more of the children in the class and understand them better. The battery was awesome and the students loved coming up with examples at the beginning of the day.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The great diversity within the kit gave many and varied examples of what respectful relationships are and how to achieve them and how they feel on both sides.

“This kit dovetailed nicely with our whole school inquiry unit of relationships. It slotted in easily with our current programme and wasn't an extra workload. I liked how there was more support information/ideas that came later this helped to extend the use of the kit in class. We haven't used everything in the kit yet :) But I will still be using and implementing activities as the year goes on :) I'm looking forward to using this at the beginning of the year with no COVID interruptions :)”

We are learning and practicing how to speak constructively when sharing ideas. That there is not 'one right way' to do things. We have different approaches and they are all valid.;

We had a lot of discussions on students noticing how others are feeling and trying things to make them feel better. A lot of this discussion came from noticing where people were putting their magnets on the battery.

“OMG we just loved this kit! The two junior classes teamed up to do it and it was fantastic to help with the new students we had starting school. It ensured that the older children were looking out for them at lunch time and encouraged the students to play with different people to make new connections. This kit worked well alongside our school values and how we follow the rule of 'treating others the way we want to be treated' It had great resources that helped support the children's understandings.
