How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Not relevant, we are a small country school who is reasonably sheltered from the bigger effects of covid.

How relevant has this kit been in your class during covid times?

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? They enjoyed being able to make connections to a battery. This led into us exploring how batteries work and how if we are unkind it can break the circuit, thus draining the battery.

“This kit had lots of great resources included. Unfortunately it missed the mark with my children as I think they were too young. There were too many fiddly bits and pieces with not enough explanation on how to use it all. We still gave it a good go and tried our best with it, but I still felt a bit lost. The children however absolutely loved the recharging station floor mat and I do feel that they are more aware of people's feelings and energy around them.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It helped children understand about being kind and helpful was really important and it also makes us feel good when we help others. I also made a big deal when someone was really helpful towards one another.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? I think it created a culture of positive community. I love the way our children really care about each other and using those question cards, it made children to reflect on how they could relate to each other and what kindness meant for each other.

“Fun activities, but caused so much extra work for the teacher to set up and prepare that I would continue to build relationships through talking and making the students feel safe and happy at school because that is what works best for my students. Great resource, thank you for the opportunity to try it out.”

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? One of the biggest game changers was the class battery. The children really responded well to this and enjoy watching the power grow. It is a very visual way to demonstrate to them how we all impact on each other.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Not really relevant as we have been back to normal. But children have missed out on a LOT of social development though lockdowns so this kit really supported me in helping them adjust back into the busy, social, classroom life.

“Thank you for this unit , the children enjoyed swapping stickers after their lunch breaks. It encouraged them to widen their friendship circles . We also have the Life Education classroom at our school and our team has chosen Respectful relationships so it fitted in beautifully with our school kit theme.”
