How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Looked at helping community and whanau, quite useful especially when students coming back to classroom after long break of pandemic.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Student really enjoyed visible battery charger.

“This was a great kit to use in my classroom. It would have been perfect for the beginning of the year but I used it in Term 3 to help with some relationship issues within the class. The students particularly loved the battery charging station and use this every day. It does take a while to get your head around how to use the kit, making it clear that the kit is adaptable and flexible would be helpful. Busy teachers need it set out for them in a very clear way. I would definitely recommend this to others.”

“We didn't really do this kit justice - due to covid and restrictions around connecting in groups. We made an adjustment and encouraged ākonga to think about the connections they were making with those in their learning spaces. We ended up abandoning the kit due to the layers involved in staff sickness, covid, student absences etc. however one of our teachers looking after our Peace Crew (based on restorative practice) used some of the ideas/resources in the kit to help with her implementation of the peace crew. We will keep the kit in our school resource space, and will perhaps look at engaging again with it in 2023.”

“This kit made such a positive impact within my classroom. It pushed some children to step outside their comfort zones and try something new, like playing with someone different. The activities held the children's attention and they are able to identify actions that are respectful and are noticing how others are feeling by looking at their body language. I highly recommend this kit to anyone who's teaching feelings and wanting students to identify them.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It has made children more aware of how others are feeling. It has gotten them to think about social cues. We used the colour monster book alongside the kit to think more about emotions.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Yes, however we are still at the beginning of a journey using this kit but I predict that by the end of the year the students will begin to understand how to work, play and interact with the people around them positively.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? I found that it supported the students more at morning tea and lunchtime as we didn't tend to have to many issues during class time to begin with.

I believe that the students being home for so long during lockdown has caused some of our younger students to lack certain social skills. So using resources like this kit has helped support them.

I did not get into the kit as much as I would have liked to because I ran out of time after being away so much.
