The kit has been out together after an extensive research I think.. it’s very detailed. But it took us some time to understand it.. and once we did there was nothing stopping us.. kids still mention some statements from our game when there is a tricky sit

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has made it a more positive space and the children can orally speak about friendships before and after play.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? I have had very low numbers over the last 6 months and the kit was fine with kids coming in and out. It was great having the resources to support the learners coming back into the learning space after a long time off school.

I initially had this kit for term one, but because of the interruptions with covid I did it in term 2. We were able to talk about how the ideas in the kit could relate to being at home if in iso.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? I think amongst my class of 5 year olds it is very relevant as they would have missed out on a big part of their kindy years to play and develop relationships and learn about social skills at kindy and preschool.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? I think it really helped my class as the various parts kept them engaged and interested and they loved having an active part in building up relationships within our classroom.

“The tamariki in Ti Kouka really enjoyed taking part in the Respectful Relationships kit. This kit really got them to think about how and who they interacted with the most in class. Some struggled with 'letting' their friends play or interact with other people, so we had a lot of discussions on recognising other peoples rights to grow other friendships and how this was a healthy thing for everyone. We are going to continue working on this for the rest of this term.”

“I really enjoyed some of the parts of the pack, including the magnetic battery resource and the questioning dice. My students really enjoyed using the dice without the teacher even present which was great to see as they are year 2s. I honestly didn't use all of the pack as I found it a bit wordy so I stuck to the resources that I found easy to use with my students.”
