How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It has been hard to implement with COVID disruptions. We will continue with the kit next term. It has been good to build new friendships for some students when their current friends are away.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Yes! They have enabled them to create relationships with different members of the class. We used the playground stickers in class so students had to work with a different buddy each day.

“Had difficulty fitting it into a busy schedule and the students (Year 2/3) struggled with the concepts, even though I simplified the approach to the wonderful resources. But overall, the kit was useful in providing resources to discuss and reflect on how relationships work in the classroom, around the school, at home and in the community.”

It has been helpful with kids coming in and out of the classroom, and sometimes children not having their comfort circle of friends at school. They have been able to build new friendships!

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It has been incredibly relevant, the main barrier we found was regular attendance as often people were away. Also the teacher had high absence this term, which just meant it was hard to keep continuity going (not the kits fault!)

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? I have observed new relationships amongst children that previously may not have played together. Especially with the older children being more caring towards the younger ones.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It has been interesting to use this kit with close to 50% of the school absent at times. In some ways it has been perfect to stimulate relationships among children that previously may not have been close.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? There was some initial resistance to playing with some children the student wouldn't normally play with. But they all discovered that they could play together and enjoy it.

“Excellent resources. The children loved the story and frequently returned to the story mat/map to notice how charged the batteries were and why. The battery is a great visual for everyone and getting up to change their position on the battery has been an excellent circuit breaker for many children in our class.”
