How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It has helped the children to look out for each other in the playground and in the class. Children were more aware of social cues and assisted the new children to make them welcome safe in our environment.

It has helped children care about others more, interact with new children instead of sticking with only those that they are familiar with. Together they have learnt to be flexible, kind and understanding

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? This kit helped with new students entering our classroom during the term.
I am still using this kit, and have so far found it useful. It is important that all students are reminded and supported with understanding how to treat themselves and others respectfully. This kit contains useful ideas and activities to integrate this into the classroom. The only con for me is my kids are year 3/4 so I had to choose if I wanted the year 1-3 pack or the 4-6 pack. Happy with my choice. This kit has especially helped kids who struggle with maintaining relationships and seeing from others' point of view. :)

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It has helped children to be more mindful of others, especially if they have been out sick. It was difficult with children coming and going through, would have liked to teach it with more children in for the whole time.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? This kit has encouraged children to respect each other a little bit more. helped them to understand their own emotions and feelings and accept them. I have found it has encouraged resilience and just being kind to each other. A wonderful kit.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has really helped the children become aware of their feelings and the feelings of others. How to connect with other children. New connections and friendships have formed and the children are empowered to take control of their feelings.

They have helped the children to see differences and similarities in their class friends and encouraged them to develop those relationships and connections with others, especially those they wouldn't normally connect with.
Our tamariki really enjoyed this unit. We got some great discussions about respect and having positive relationships

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? We were able to unpack what Respect is and the importance of it within our kura. It fits well with our school values.
The children enjoyed the colourful game pieces and tokens. We have the colorful mood magnet on the board permanently. It helps our language about how we are feeling. It tied well into our Te Whare Tapa Wha.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The children have been keen to play with children they don't usually, in order to gain a sticker. However the 1 on 1 rule of the playlunch project has worked against this sometimes - a small group would work better for our year 1 class.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Children are more aware when others are upset. Angry children move to the battery to reset their magnet and practice some calming breathing. This has helped them to recover more quickly.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It has helped them to understand that sometimes they need to share resources or someone else will feel left out. Having spend a lot of time at home over the past couple of years they haven't had to practice sharing so much

The kit felt disjointed - no clear direction of where to start and a process to follow, just a range of activities.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The questioning that has come from the kit has been powerful in my class. The conversations that has come from these has allowed us to explore the concept of a respectful reationship.
Once I got my head around all the pieces and adapted a few for my age group (year 0/1) my class have had many positive learning and interacting experiences. Finding this kit was perfect timing - I was looking for something to build resilience, empathy and something to get the children to work together. I have continued to develop more learning about self regulation from the skills we build.

Recognising and acknowledging that we can all feel different in situations and how this might effect choices and behaviours has been very helpful. Many of my students have the language to contribute in our circle time and recognise positive relationships

The playlunch project has made them very aware of mixing up the friendships. we would sit beside the new person before play then swop stickers after play and say one thing they enjoyed about playing with their new friend.
I found this kit very useful in helping to overcome the students barriers to working with anyone in the class and widening the number of people they can play or hang out with. The Playlunch project was very sucessful.
