“Sticker books were the most helpful resource to use with the class to improve whanaungatanga in the class. Was able to encourage others to spend more time with students who didn’t have friends to play with. Students loved them and would remind me every day to do them.”

“Kia ora team, the highlights for our Year 2 ILE was the Coding session and the Playtime lunch project. My co-teacher and I utilised this kit to reinforce empathy and the importance of showing respect in all our relationships. How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has influenced a positive aspect of how we act in our class. We looked at the importance of what we do with peers and how we respond to them if something doesn't go our way. Things we learn't from this we also added to our classroom treaty.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It's allowed the children to reach out and make new friends. It has given them the skills to be respectful and considerate. They loved swapping stickers for their booklets when they made new friends.

“It had lots of good ideas for whole class activities and games which are always so much more effective when younger children are aquiring a new skill. I found that role play worked out very well and was a very effective way of showing the opposite of respectful which they needed to see so they could then notice when people were showing respect to others.”
